What CS16Zone collects, why, how long we keep it, and how to have your data or nickname removed.
Updated October 27, 2026
CS16Zone (“we”) runs this website: a Counter-Strike 1.6 server monitor and a community. This page lists the data we handle, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Public server data. Every few minutes we ask game servers for their name, map, player count and player list (the standard A2S query any game client uses). That list has the nicknames the server itself shows, plus how long each player has played and their score.
- Your account, if you create one: username, email, a scrypt hash of your password (never the password itself), country and bio if you add them, and what you post (forum, comments, chat).
- Steam, Discord or Google login, if you use one: your account id there, your public name and profile picture, and from Steam your public country. Discord and Google also give us your email if they confirmed it. We never see your passwords or messages there.
- Emails we send: to confirm your email, reset a password, and tell you about your servers and support tickets. News and offers only if you ticked that box. Every email has a link to change these choices or stop them. We keep the list of sent emails (subject and address, not the text) for 30 days.
- Support tickets: what you write to us there, until you delete your account.
- Technical data: we use your IP address for rate limits and abuse protection. It is only kept in short-lived counters (failed logins: 24 hours). Cookies keep you logged in and protect forms (CSRF). Your colour theme, favourites and recent servers are saved in your own browser.
No ad cookies, no tracking cookies, and we don’t sell data.
Processors
The site runs on our own server in the EU, with Cloudflare in front of it for traffic, DDoS protection and caching. Country lookups by IP use DB-IP Lite. If you log in with Steam, Discord or Google, that service handles the login. Emails are delivered by Brevo (EU).
How long we keep it
- Raw server polls: 48 hours. Hourly statistics: 8 days. Daily statistics: kept.
- Player nicknames: until no server has shown them for 180 days (for rarely seen names), or until you ask us to remove them.
- Login sessions: 30 days. Chat: the newest 500 messages per room. Read notifications: 90 days.
- Your account: until you delete it in Account settings. After that your posts show as “deleted user”.
Your rights
You can view, correct, export and delete your account data at any time. Under the GDPR you can also object to processing and complain to your data protection authority.
Remove a nickname: nicknames come from public game servers, but if you ask, we will hide yours from player pages and search. Email [email protected] with the nickname.
Minimum age
You must be 16 or older to make an account. You don’t need one to browse the site or use the server list.
