How every release is checked
Each release will be signed. This page will list every file with its size, SHA-256 hash and VirusTotal result, with the commands to check the hash yourself.
Windows SmartScreen and antivirus warnings
New programs from small publishers often get a SmartScreen warning ("Windows protected your PC") until enough people have installed them. It does not mean the file is infected.
Check the SHA-256 hash and the VirusTotal report above. If they match, choose "More info" and then "Run anyway". Never install a CS 1.6 client whose hash you cannot check.
Some antivirus programs flag every old game with a server browser. If yours does, send us the detection name and we will report it as a false positive.

Install in 3 steps
- Run the installer and choose a folder (avoid

- Open Find Servers → Internet. The list loads from the CS16Zone masterserver.

Questions
Do I need Steam?
No. The client runs on its own. If you own the game on Steam you can play with that too, and every server on CS16Zone works with both.
Can I play with Steam players?
Yes, on servers that allow both (most community servers do). The server list shows which servers you can join.
Are there bots or ads?
No bots, no ads, no toolbars and no changed main menu. The client does not redirect you to any server.
Where do my configs go?
Your config.cfg and userconfig.cfg stay in the cstrike folder. Copy them from an older install to keep your binds.
How do I update?
Download the new installer and install over the old folder. Your configs and screenshots stay.
How do I uninstall?
Use "Apps & features" in Windows settings, or delete the folder of the portable version.
